For not posting since week five. There has been so much going on in Paris, in Audubon, and now in Washington. But now, I will offer a brief catch-up.
Week 6: Last week in Paris with Rutgers! I took finals and did some last minute bonding with friends that I made while in the program. We went to an outdoor movie, but I personally didn’t stay through it because my friends had a far ways to travel and the metro was going to close if we didn’t leave soon.
Week 7: Aunt Margi and Robert finally arrive! The hotel was absolutely fab and only a 2 minute walk from the Champs Elysee. We went to Versailles, LONDON!!, Giverny, the Eiffel Tower (which we walked and then elevatored up to the tippy top! :) ), and little ins and outs of Paris. We ate a lot of good food, drank a lot of wine, and had a wonderful time! The last night in Paris, after 48 days there for me, we took a cruise down the Seine. It was a perfect way to end the trip! (I hope I didn’t forget anything fabulous here!)
Now here comes the nightmare. On the day of our departure, we got everything together and were taken to the airport. As soon as we walk in, I start scanning the departure screen, and it says that my flight is canceled. My aunt and Robert were on a different flight than me too! So, we get in a line, talk to the most incompetent customer service person, and learn that there is no possible way for me to even get into the United States that day. G-R-E-A-TTTTTTTT!!! So I get put on a flight to JFK the next day, with a connecting flight to PHL and I get set-up in a hotel located in the airport complex. I was beyond upset because I just wanted to go home. Luckily, there was free wi-fi so I was able to communicate with everyone from home. Ok, so the next day, I go to the airport 6 HOURS before my flight andddddd it won’t let me check in. So I find a customer service agent who is running all over, and I ask him “Am I at least on the flight?” ”Well, you’re lucky you are here six hours early.” WHAT?!?!? That’s right, I wasn’t on the flight, but he saved the day and got me on. It felt like an eternity before I got home, but once I was there, it was awesome, despite the awfully hot temperatures and humidity.
In my remaining weeks home, I just enjoyed being there. We spent time at the shore, where I caught up on my tan. I got to spend time with my two closest friends and my family. When it came time to go back to school last week, it felt surreal, but it was definitely time to go back.
And now, I start a new chapter.
